Poor Mans 3D Text Creator

  1. Open MS Word.
  2. Make sure the Drawing Menu is open and click on the insert Word Art icon.
  3. Choose the style that you would like to use.
  4. Pick the font size that you want to use, To make a 375 x 60 pixel banner with 13 letters, I would use a size 36 font, You will have to use some trial and error [It pays to write down the style/font and size you use for later reference].
  5. Type the text that you want to use.
  6. Click once on the text to select it.
  7. Right click on it and select copy from the menu.
  8. Minimise MS Word and open Photoshop.
  9. Click on file/new and name the graphic [ ALL lower case ].
  10. Change graphic size and click OK.
  11. Make sure that the arrow tool is highlighted, go to EDIT/ PASTE.
  12. Go to FILE/ EXPORT/ GIF89aExport/ OK.
  13. Choose where you wish to store the graphic, before saving change the .GIF extension to .gif.
  14. Close Photoshop without saving.
  15. If you wish the graphic to have a transparent background, reopen Photoshop and the graphic.
  16. Go once again to FILE/ EXPORT/ GIF89aExport/, Click the background with the eye dropper [you may have to click on the BG several times to clean up/change the colour, then click OK.
  17. Change the .GIF extension to .gif and save, click YES to replace file.
  18. Your poor man 3D text/transparent gif is ready to be placed in the HTML code of your web page.
